Althorpe & Keadby Althorpe War Memorial sits outside the Stephenson Memorial Hall, opposite St Oswald’s Church and close to Althorpe Wesleyan Chapel. The memorial is a rough hewn granite pillar on a stepped base ‘erected by the ex-servicemen of the Parish to the honour and never dying memory of their colleagues who fell in the Great War’. The name Althorpe means "farmstead of a man called Ali", from the Old Scandanavian ali+thorpe and the village is referred to in the Domesday Book as Aletorp. [A. D. Mills, "A Dictionary of English Place-Names," Oxford University Press, ]. The splendid 's Church at Althorpe dates from when it was built by Sir John Neville.

Rebuilt for Sir John Neville, with earlier origins to nave, and reused C14 responds to chancel arch. The parish church of Althorpe and Keadby is dedicated to St. Oswald and stands on a raised strip of land in a sharp bend of the river, surrounded by Althorpe village.

About; Map; Dating from the 15th century, St Oswald's Church was built on the site of an earlier church that had links with the Knights Templar and the prestigious Mowbray Family who owned land across the Isle of Axholme.

The church is unsual in that is was built in a single architectural style - the Perpendicular. St Oswald's Althorpe stands close to the bank of the River Trent.

The church was built in by Sir John Neville, whose arms are displayed on the west side of the ashlar faced tower. It has a Perpendicular style throughout.
